Apple has always been fighting a losing battle; is released new version of iOS, only to be exploited by one of the many known names within the community of jailbreak. However, the new Twitter and blog post, MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev Team, suggests that Apple might finally catch up, preventing the implementation procedures, which are often needed for the process of jailbreaking.
On the substance of the previous firmwares, users were able to maintain their so-called "SHSH blobs" for each version of the firmware using an application such as TinyUmbrella, which then allows the user to revert to an earlier version of IOS; procedure, which is not allowed or supported by Apple. This then allows users to downgrade the firmware, for which there is no jailbreak.
According to the opening to Musclenerd however, starting with iOS 5, a mechanism that allows this process to work may cease to exist – if Apple decides to do it.
This can be a massive blow for jailbreakers, who could be detained for the firmware version in the future, not in a position to return! However iPhone Dev Team re-assured system currently store any blobs will still work, but we should expect to be stipulated in the final version of the iOS 5 (GM build) which is available for customers this fall.
